Having explored the carving of faces and heads for decorative work, Elmer turned his attention to tools. The carvings on the tools below make for absolutely unique, one of a kind tools that are a joy to own and use. Elmer’s own forging hammer and tongs were the prototypes for these tools and are in use every day.

The hammers shown are 2lb and 3lb cross peen hammers on to which Elmer has carved elfin eyes, mouth, nostrils and ears. The style of the hammer comes from Europe, it has a large amount of weight in the middle of the hammer, a blocky peen for effective spreading of the metal and a good radius on each edge to cut down on hammer marks. |
